Apostle Edward Ssewanyana is the Founder and General Overseer of Worldwide Apostolic Church and Edifire Ministries. Called by God into the dual offices of Apostle and Teacher, he ministers with an uncompromising apostolic cutting edge, a profound grasp of the Holy Scriptures and a militant demonstration of the Holy Ghost with supernatural signs following.
Early Conversion and the Spark of Revival
Apostle Edward surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in December 1999 while a high school student at St. Mary’s College Kisubi in Uganda. In 2001, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit and launched out into frontline ministry under the Invaders youth fellowship. During this season he underwent structured ministry training under Kampala Pentecostal Church with the Youth Discipleship course “Adventure in the Word” and Evangelism Explosion. In August 2001, he stepped onto foreign soil for his very first international evangelistic mission to Eldoret, Kenya with Pastor Mark Kigozi and the Invaders team.
The Campus Awakening and the Birth of Edifire Ministries
In September 2001, Apostle Edward entered Makerere University to pursue a degree in Architecture with a fiery resolve to see the campus turned upside down for Jesus Christ. Within his first two weeks in Livingstone Hall, he led ten first-year students to salvation. Driven by holy zeal, he and a brother boldly entered the office of the Livingstone Hall Warden, preached the unadulterated gospel and led the Warden to Christ at his desk.
He pioneered a class fellowship among his fellow architecture students that attracted both students and university lecturers, established a weekly prayer altar in the CC Tower of CCE Hall and was appointed to the executive committee of the Makerere University Christian Union, serving a fellowship of over 2,000 students. In July 2002, during the university recess term at CCE Main Block, he founded Edifire Ministries alongside Apostle Moses Arinaitwe, establishing a global vehicle for literature distribution, evangelistic crusades and church planting. He subsequently served for two years as Chairman of the Afrostone Christian Union (encompassing Africa and Livingstone Halls), stewarding powerful outpourings of spiritual gifts and pioneering its historic joint mission to Hoima.
Frontline Apostolic Missions and Church Planting
Between 2001 and 2006, Apostle Edward participated in and led extensive evangelistic campaigns across Uganda, including Fort Portal, Hoima, Busia, Luweero, Sembabule and Kampala with mission teams such as Caring Mission, Tororo Busia Missioners (TBM), Kabarole Missioners and Edifire Ministries.
His international apostolic mission work expanded across Africa into Kenya (including Nairobi, Eldoret, Kakamega, Misikhu and Kiminini), Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and West Africa including Ghana. In July 2006, he directed Edifire Ministries’ first independent international mission in Nairobi, Kenya.
In June 2008, he planted Worldwide Apostolic Church at Kiswa Primary School in Bugolobi, Kampala. Under Apostle Edward’s leadership, Worldwide Apostolic Church has grown significantly, impacting Nakawa, Kiswa and Bugolobi communities and conducting extensive evangelistic campaigns across Uganda including Rwampara (Mbarara), Butalejja, Manafwa (Mbale), Entebbe and various parts of Kampala.
Professional Background, Education and Authorship
By profession, Apostle Edward is a graduate of Architecture from Makerere University and has practiced architectural consultancy alongside his ministry calling. He holds a Masters in Ministry from Morris Cerullo God’s Victorious Army School of Ministry, San Diego, CA, United States. He is also the author of the practical construction guide, Build Smart, Build Dirt Cheap.
Supernatural Ministry and Dunamis Power
His ministry is accompanied by notable demonstrations of God’s dunamis power, witnessing the lame walk, deaf ears unstop, mute tongues loosed and medically verified healings from afflictions such as Cancer, HIV/AIDS and Diabetes. Operating with razor-sharp words of knowledge, prophetic accuracy and a grace for imparting the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, Apostle Edward is a prolific writer and teacher.
He is the author of “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit” and the landmark The Dunamis Healing Series, beginning with the newly published volume, Healing Is For Today: Unleashing Dunamis Healing Power. He remains dedicated to raising, training and commissioning a militant generation of believers to advance the Kingdom of God across the earth.
