Edifire Ministries was founded in 2002 at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda by Apostle Edward Ssewanyana. The ministry started out as a Bible Study fellowship for University students. New branches were subsequently opened in Kyambogo University and UCU Mukono University. The ministry has engaged in national and international evangelistic missions. The ministry progressed from University fellowships to Field Bible Studies for members in the workplace. The highlight of this ministry phase was an evangelistic mission to Nairobi, Kenya in 2006. In the organizational hierarchy, Edifire Ministries is the topmost ministry level under which all other arms including Worldwide Apostolic Church fall.
