Next I will give you my own testimony from Kenya. In December 2005 we had a mission to Kenya in a town called Kiminini. I was invited to teach in Redeemed Gospel Church Kiminini on one of the Sundays. During the service God revealed to me by the “word of knowledge” that in our midst was a man with deafness in one ear. I called out that “word of knowledge” and the man came forward. When his turn came for prayer I did not ask God to heal the man’s ear. I simply commanded the man’s ear to open, I said, “I command you ear to be opened in the name of Jesus Christ”. The man’s ear immediately opened up and he could hear clearly. The ear was opened through the spoken word and not through begging God to open the ear. A mighty miracle took place because the faith servant was given work to do through my confession.
The last example we shall examine is God Himself. The entire universe and heaven were created when God spoke words, that is how God released the faith servant to create all the we see and feel today. “And GOD SAID, Let there be light: and there was light. And GOD SAID, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And GOD SAID, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And GOD SAID, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And GOD SAID, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven… and it was so. And GOD SAID, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And GOD SAID, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so” (Gen 1:3, 6, 9, 12, 14, 15, 20, 24). Everything that God created was spoken into existence, God did not have to lift a single finger to make any of these things. The entire world was framed by God’s word as Apostle John confirms, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (Joh 1:1, 3). It was through God’s spoken Word that all things were made and this Word was Jesus Christ. God expects you to imitate Him in this endeavor and to model your life or your world with your words.
YOU CAN CONFESS LIKE THEY DID!
“We having the SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore SPEAK” (2Co 4:13). The devil has often deceived the Christians into thinking that the faith exercised in Bible times is very different from the faith we have as believers today. This scripture in 2 Corinthians implies the very opposite since it says that we have “the same spirit of faith”not a different spirit of faith. After explaining that we have the same spirit of faith like God had, like Joshua had, like Jesus and Paul had, we are told how this faith was released and how we can release it too. You have to go beyond believing to saying, “I believed, and therefore have I spoken”, not I believed and therefore the miracle took place. Merely believing is not enough, the Word of faith is in your mouth and therefore you have to copy what they did in the Bible, “we also believe, and therefore speak.” Apostle Paul again described the process of receiving deliverance under the New Covenant in the book of Romans saying that, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and WITH THE MOUTH CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION”(Rom 10:10). Without confession, sozo, the word translated salvation, will never occur. Without confession, financial deliverance, physical healing, deliverance from demonic oppression and spiritual deliverance will not take place. You have the same spirit of faith and you can imitate God by confessing and creating your world with your words.
“Therefore be IMITATORS OF GOD, as beloved children” (Eph 5:1 CENT), since God spoke the world into existence we ought to imitate Him and to operate at His level. Every child learns what it knows through observing and imitating those around him or her. Likewise as a beloved child of God, you should imitate your heavenly Father by speaking towards that circumstance like He did. Do not wait for God to do it, He will only work when you speak. Hebrews goes ahead to tell us that God framed the World with his words, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Heb 11:3). God framed the world with His word and your world is framed either for the better or for the worse by the words that you speak. Your words can either liberate you or set you free.
POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE CONFESSION?
“Thou art snared with THE WORDS OF THY MOUTH, thou art taken WITH THE WORDS OF THY MOUTH” (Pro 6:2), here King Solomon clearly states that your words can trap you. Many believers live lives of defeat and not victory because they have not tamed their tongues. Their heart is filled with the junk that the world offers them rather then the word of God and thus they confess contrary to God’s word. Some people remark, “I do not think that that confession business works.” The person who says this statement is a fool and only has to look at their lives to confirm the truth of the confession message. They will invariably be people living in lack, defeat, sickness and dryness, owing to the negative confessions that they have made over their own lives. Your words can either exalt or bring you down. Jesus Himself said that it is through a man’s words that he will either be justified or condemned. This truth is brought ought clearly in three translations of Matthew 12:37, “For BY THY WORDS thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”, The Message translation, “WORDS can be your salvation. WORDS can also be your damnation” and God’s word translation, “BY YOUR WORDS you will be declared innocent, or BY YOUR WORDS you will be declared guilty.”This shows the gravity that your words hold when applied to positive or negative ends. Your words have creative power and they should be used wisely. Purpose to fill your heart with the Word of God so that it will come out of your mouth at the time you need it. Jesus said, “A good man out of the GOOD TREASURE OF HIS HEART bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the EVIL TREASURE OF HIS HEART bringeth forth that which is evil: for OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKETH” (Luk 6:45). Do not expect to go to a bank and start demanding for money that you never deposited, you will be promptly arrested. This is what happens with many believers, they expect the Word of God to come out of their mouths yet they never take time to deposit it in their hearts. Do not allow the devil to take hold of your mouth by constantly watching programmes produced by unbelievers and listening to ungodly music, these are the people described by Apostle James, “And THE TONGUE is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and IT IS SET ON FIRE OF HELL” (Jam 3:6). Fill your heart with God’s word and confess it over your situation by faith, you will reap the best harvest and will live forever satisfied, “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled” (Pro 18:20).
